Rinse 02: Mixed by Skream

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rinse FM was one of the biggest pirate radio stations in London until it received a community FM broadcast licence in June 2010. Somewhere around 5 years ago I came across some Rinse FM CDs. I listened to Rinse 02 and Rinse 03, and Rinse 03 was nowhere near to Rinse 02, which was mixed by the Artist Skream who was back then for me completely unknown.  After listening to this Rinse 02 Mix I realised that this was outstanding! Ok, I listened to this first in my car, and although I was firstly amazed by the huge amount of deep bass this new music contained, and I never heared Dubstep before, it became my favourite Dubstep CD for a long time and not only because of the bass.
 Listen to it and judge for yourself!
Maybe one year later I heared a brilliant remix of La Roux's "In for the Kill".  Here's the original version by La Roux
I liked the whole album which appeared in 2009. Their single "Bulletproof" reached #1 in the UK Charts and was an international success. Nevertheless listen to this marvellous remix by Skream, that gave this song so much more "darkness" and "depth".
Skream puts a nice amount of reverb on Eleanor Jacksons voice, which creates auditory spaciousness and gives this song a very special atmosphere. If I had to pick one particular song or remix by Skream, which I like most, "In for the Kill" would be my first choice.
Disclosure - Latch
Ok, this song is not new. I heared this one the first time in England in autumn 2012, but anyway Disclosure, the brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence from Surrey, did a great piece of music with this "Hit" and reached #11 in the UK Singles Dance Charts.
My first contact with house music was probably "Call on me" by the swedish DJ and producer Eric Prydz. A couple of songs, that had a quite similar style followed by other DJs in the early and mid-2000s were nice too, but my love for house music was over already before the next decade.
During my three months stay in England I found "Latch" in the single dance charts on BBCs website and I immediately fell in love with this song! Probably it's just my personal opinion, but this song is full of emotion and that is also the message that the official video suggests. Beside of the music and the video, Sam Smiths voice is doing a great job here too, to create an atmosphere of freshly falling in love. The composition of sound and images is supporting my thesis of falling in love for the first time. None of the people seen in the video seems to know each other really well. It's the first contact on a party or somewhere else. The facial expression and the eye contact is connected with deep emotions and love for each other.
I saw the video first on youtube, so it's hard to tell, if the video or the music is mainly responsible for my impression, but anyway, Disclosure opened my ears again towards house music.
I was looking up for more songs by Disclosure. Their new single "White Noise" is even more successful, but it doesn't reach the intensity of "Latch".
Keep your ears open for this amazing duo!
Introduction
Hi!
This blog is dedicated to music. Any kind of music? Well, no. I would like to present songs, albums and artists, which I personaly consider as good. I don't care much about underground or mainstream. I listen to what I like, whatever music genre it is.
A brief introduction to myself: I'm not a musician, nor a music expert, but what makes somebody a music expert? Basically anybody can be a music expert, as long as they are listening to music. I'm listening to music every day. While I go for a walk on my mp3 player, I listen to music while I'm driving my car, while I'm working out at the gym to push myself, when I'm at home to relax and when I'm going out to have a good time. Those different situations require different types of music and I would like to share my favourites with you.
Sidenote: As English is not my first, or second language, and beside that everybody does mistakes, the language used in this blog is not flawless. Thank you for your understanding!
